Privacy Notice for members of the Fisher Owners Association (FOA)
We are FOA, a not-for-profit membership organisation in the UK with members worldwide.
We collect and use your personal information fairly and lawfully under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
1. What information we collect
· Name, postal address, email, phone number
· Date you joined, membership number and category
· Subscription and product payment details
· Any information you voluntarily give us (e.g. emergency contact, dietary needs, access requirements)
2. Why we collect it and our legal basis

3. How long we keep your information
· Current members: for the duration of your membership + 12 months
· Former members: basic contact details up to 6 years after your membership ends (so we can invite you to re-join or keep you informed)
· Financial records: 7 years after the last transaction or claim (legal requirement)
· Everything else: Any Postings to FOA forums, Newsletters, and any other general information may be retained for a much longer period, which may or may not be viewable to the members of the Fisher Owners Association.
The FOA has no control over the retention policy of public social media postings (Facebook, Whatsapp et al). It is the responsibility of the individual to manage what they post.
4. Who we share your data with
Only trusted service providers who help us run the association (e.g. our membership database provider, Mailgun (bulk mailing system dedicated to Sailing Club Manager or similar for emails). We never sell or share your data for marketing outside the association.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
· See the data we hold about you
· Ask us to correct it
· Ask us to delete it or stop using it
· Object to or restrict our legitimate-interest mailings
